Our 2026 Legislative Priorities
For the upcoming legislative session, Hawaiʻi Hunger Action Network is focused on strengthening food security and expanding access to nutritious, affordable food for all Hawaiʻi residents. Our three policy priorities are:
Expand SNAP Access
Farm to Families
Universal Free School Meals
1. EXPAND SNAP ACCESS
Expanding SNAP eligibility, improving systems, increasing allotments, supporting outreach.
2. FARM TO FAMILIES
Increasing long-term state commitment and funding for farm to families programs.
3. UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS
Implementing universal free school meals for all students, removing cost mandates.

Hawai’i Hunger Action Network focuses on advocacy at the state level, but change also happens locally.
Here are practical ways to get involved in your county to address food security through mulitple pathways.
